Technical concept
The technical realisation follows a bottom up strategy. The first step includes the investigation of existing services and experiences from the news agency partners in the consortium and beyond. Appropriate news aggregation issues for upload, submission, feed, and storage are discussed and a service architecture for a multilingual and multinational news network is developed.
As soon as the basic concept is clear, approaches for content management, correction, and manipulation will be implemented. The work includes article translation, metadata handling for article interrelations and information enrichment to establish national relevance and connections associated to the news.
Methods of Artificial Intelligence will contribute to the quality of interlinking business news articles on a national as well as international basis.
On top of those developments, the user management will be implemented. News submitters are assigned accounts, consumers are assigned personalized filters, marketing partners are managing marketing features. Specific roles and corresponding system rights are defined and managed for the news distribution service.
Finally, the information receiver interfaces will be developed and adapted. Several ways of publishing will be possible, through a centralized web interface as well as for multiple destinations based on XML document formats. The final news distribution system, managing bulk news distribution (on existing channels like per email, SMS, WML and on future channels like UMTS to reach a maximum of potential subscribers) will be an important part of the final system.
