SITA - Slovakian News Agency
SITA is the only independent news agency in Slovakia. SITA provides information from Slovakia since 1997 focusing on main domestic and business news both in Slovak and English language. Since 2000 it also provides specialized news service about Slovak entry into EU "EUROservis" that is free-of charges provided to all media, governmental and business entities in Slovakia. Nowadays, SITA provides work to approximately 100 journalists in all regions of Slovakia. Company publishes approximately 500 news items a day covering all needs of media and business sector needs.
Since 2001 SITA has also experiences from preparing specialized news bulletin (Slovak AM) about Slovakia in English language used mostly by foreign investors as well as other bulletins specializing on business sectors that are interesting for foriegn investors (telecom, utilities, banking etc). SITA also provides analyses about several sectors that are prepared always on special demand. Analysis about metallurgy, refining, banking and telecom are among those perpared by our analysts.
SITA has used its experiences in starting news agency in Slovakia also to help other independent news agencies to start working (ONASA in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Hercegovina, MINA in Podgorica, Montenegro, CIA in Prague, Czech republic).
At this moment SITA is looking for re-founding its place in Slovak market that will become a part of European market. Company has well-developed business inside Slovakia but doesn´t have any tools to broaden news from Slovakia as an new EU member also to other EU candidates and members. All public opinions surveys made in EU or in candidate countries show that EU candidates and members do not have enough information about each other. SITA believes that besides regional media and news services publishing news in local languages, some new system of collecting and distributing information for whole new EU will be needed.
